DBC Programs

At DBC, the programs we offer are the heart of our effort to improve the total quality of life for the families we serve.

Child Development

DBC offers an NAEYC-accredited Child Development program. Its comprehensive educational components provide developmentally appropriate activities and skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. DBC administers a high-quality program that provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual development. The Child Development program serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Pre-school

DBC offers a full-day Pre-K program for children ages 3 to 5, utilizing a state-approved, research-based curriculum that assures each child is ready for kindergarten and has a successful start in school.

After School

The DBC After School program provides children ages 6 to 12 with a safe and supervised learning environment. The program promotes reading and mathematics tutoring, computer education, recreational activities and a progressive series of educational experiences that enhance life skills and develop physical, social, emotional and cognitive competencies. The After School program operates Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Summer Enrichment Program

DBC offers a Summer Enrichment Program for youth ages 6 to 18. The program provides a wide range of enjoyable summer activities that include academic adventures that focus on math, reading and science; sports camps that focus on helping participants learn sports skills, develop fitness, sportsmanship and self-confidence; arts and crafts; performing arts that include acting classes, classical ballet and dance routines; field trips; book clubs; educational speakers and much more. The program runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., for 11 weeks.

Food Vouchers

This initiative distributes food vouchers to women with children and the elderly who are in critical need of food. During 2005 DBC handed out food vouchers worth over $15,000.

Computer Education and Literacy Lab

The computer lab is an integral part of several DBC programs including Child Development, Pre-school, After School and the Summer Enrichment Program. Activities in the lab focus on reading, math, letter and number recognition, phonics and basic computer skills.

Christmas Outreach

The Christmas Outreach program makes connections between families in need and those with resources they would like to share. During the 2005 Christmas season, more than 250 children received gifts of food, clothing and toys.

Health/Physical/Nutrition Fair

The Annual Health Fair promotes healthy lifestyles and the importance of preventative medicine and treatment.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Each year DBC serves hot, nutritious Thanksgiving dinners to families in the South Dallas community.

Children’s Community Choir

The choir is truly a special part of DBC. Children from local elementary schools and the community participate and perform throughout the Dallas area.
