DBC Launches a Free Reading Tutoring and Hot Breakfast Program

Since reading comprehension in young children is directly linked to success later in life, DBC has created a new program, “Breakfast and Books,” which gives local children a hot breakfast and free tutoring in reading comprehension every Saturday morning.

Our Program Manager, Brandon Stovall, made it his mission 3 years ago to touch the lives of as many children in the community as possible to help them succeed in life as adults. Every Saturday, Brandon arrives around 7:15 a.m. to begin cooking so that around 10:00 a.m. children can have both a hot meal and reading material ready for them.

Dallas Bethlehem Center is the hub of a collaboration of neighborhood churches in partnership with the Faith Coalition of the Zip Code Connection, enabling the “Breakfast and Books” program to be available to kids in South Dallas.

Volunteers Wanted

In order to keep this great program running, we are in need of volunteers! If you would like to spend some of your Saturday mornings cooking breakfast for the kids, or being a reading tutor, please email us. Our volunteers are what make our work possible!
