Our History
Dallas Bethlehem Center was founded in 1946 as a project of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Originally offering programs for women and children in Uptown, DBC moved to our current South Dallas location in 1955. As the picture above shows, DBC began offering programs out of two small neighborhood houses and an attached garage. Over the years, the facility has been renovated and has grown to include over 24,000 square feet of program space.
Throughout our history, DBC has offered programs that serve the immediate needs of our community (zip codes 75210 and 75215). Some of these past programs include: after-school programming, Vacation Bible School, Boy Scouts troups, sports programming, legal clinics, tutoring, homework assistance, computer classes , literacy labs and more.
Today, DBC is a National Mission Institution of United Women in Faith. We provide programs and services that fall under three pillars of service - Education, Health & Wellness, and Technology supports.
